darktable released a new version 3.2.1 which has new features, bug fixes and support for new devices, etc.. , users are recommended to move to 3.2.1 from older versions.

darktable is an open-source application that provides both amateur and enthusiasts photographers with a virtual light table and darkroom that allows them to manage their digital negatives in a single and handy database.

It has been designed from the ground up to be used for developing RAW images from digital cameras.

In this tutorial, I will show you how to install the latest version of darktable 3.2.1 on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, 18.04 LTS, Fedora 32, and OpenSUSE.

• The light table view has been rewritten and the filmstrip reworked
• Buttons are highlighted only when the context makes the action possible.
• A complete overhaul of the CSS has been done
• The Color Picker and location modules are updated to better fit into the new UI

So how to install darktable 3.2.1 in Ubuntu / Fedora / OpenSUSE?

For Ubuntu

Step 1: Add the official repository

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/darktable

Step 2: Update the repository

sudo apt update

Step 3: Install darktable 3.2.1

sudo apt install darktable

For Fedora 32

dnf install darktable

For OpenSUSE

OpenSUSE comes with darktable, for installing the latest version add the repo and install it.

The below is for tumbleweed if you are using different version replace openSUSE_Tumbleweed and add your version with underscores

zypper addrepo https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/graphics:darktable/openSUSE_<opensuseversion>/graphics:darktable.repo

zypper refresh

zypper install darktable
