Wireshark an open-source protocol analyzer software mainly used to monitor the traffic in a network, analysis, and development, Recently version 3.2.6 released and easy to install via Official Wireshark PPA by developers.

In this tutorial, I will show you how to install the latest version of Wireshark 3.2.6 on Ubuntu 20.04 / 18.04 and LinuxMint 19.3

What's new in Wireshark 3.2.6

This release has no new features and no new protocols

How to Install Wireshark 3.2.6 in Ubuntu / Linux Mint?

• Method 1: Via PPA
• Method 2: Via Flatpak

Method 1: Via PPA

Note: PPA is not updated during writing this post, we will update this post once PPA is updated to the latest version

Step 1: Add the official PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wireshark-dev/stable

Step 2: Update the repository

sudo apt update

Step 3: Install Wireshark 3.2.6

sudo apt-get install wireshark

During the installation, it will require confirming security about allowing non-superuser to execute Wireshark.

Just confirm YES if you want to. If you check on NO, you must run Wireshark with sudo. Later if you want to change this by the below command

sudo dpkg-reconfigure wireshark-common

Method 2: Via Flatpak - applicable for all Linux distributions

Step 1: Setup Flatpak on your system using the guide

Step 2: Install WireShark using the below Flatpak command

flatpak install flathub org.wireshark.Wireshark

Step 3: Run WireShark 3.2.6

flatpak run org.wireshark.Wireshark
